• DES and Prednisolone (Pr)
• Reduce the enzyme efflux from skeletal muscle
• Effective in the treatment of for instance Duchenne's muscular dystrophy (Morgan et al . , 1976, Clinical Research 24: page 520 A; Cohen et al . , 1977, Journal of Medicine 8: 123-134) [67]

• DES
• Structurally similar to resveratrol
• Completely different biological activities
• Carcinogenic
• Oxidising effect on fats (Gued et al . , 2003, Oncol Rep 10: 739-743)
• Strong oestrogen
• Induces chemical castration in males, impotency, mammary hypertrophy etc (Clemens, 1974, Adv Behav Biol 11: 23-53)
• Cause foetal anomalies etc.
• Unsuitable for use in the prevention and/or treatment of atherosclerosis
