- Reduce insulin resistance, endothelial damage, lung injury and cytokine storm.
- May as a result be important in mitigating the severity of COVID-19
- Acting through the endoplasmic reticulum stress or ACE-Angiotensin-II-AT1R axis (AT1R) pathway
- Many Nrf2-interacting nutrients are also interacting with TRPA1 and/or TRPV1

Tecfidera
- Less potent Nrf2 activators (sulforaphane [26,118], curcumin [25,119,120] and resveratrol [27,28,121]) have been developed, tested and demonstrated for use in some of these indications, however do not appear to exert the same influences on innate and adaptive immunity as FAEs.
- Cabbage contains precursors of sulforaphane, the most active natural activator of Nrf2.
- Fermented vegetables contain many lactobacilli, which are also potent Nrf2 activators.
- Three examples are: kimchi in Korea, westernized foods, and the slum paradox.
