Caroli disease

• Rare congenital cystic dilatation of the intrahepatic bile ducts.
• This predisposes to biliary stasis and consequent lithiasis, cholangitis, abscesses, and septicemia. Additionally, children face increased risk of hepatic fibrosis (termed Caroli syndrome), renal disease, cholangiocarcinoma, and amyloidosis
