Cat’s claw - Uncaria guianensis - Uncaria tomentosa
- Peptic ulcers, colitis, leaky bowel syndrome, herpes infections, and especially urinary tract cancer (Natural Medicines Comprehensive Database, 2004)
- Appeared to induce tumor cell death and inhibit proliferation of leukemia and lymphoma cells (Piscoya et al., 2001; Sandoval, Charbonnet, & Okuhama, 2000; Santa Maria et al., 1997)
- Adverse reactions
- Headache, dizziness, and vomiting (Piscoya et al.)
- Typical dose for osteoarthritis of the knee is 100 mg of a freeze-dried aqueous extract of cat’s claw (Piscoya et al.).
