Initially
- Cause no symptoms
- Cca 2/3 had no symptoms [11]
- Cca 1/3 of patients diagnosed with prostate cancer had one or more such symptoms
- Frequent urination
- Nocturia (increased urination at night)
- Difficulty starting and maintaining a steady stream of urine
- Dysuria (painful urination)
- Benign prostatic hyperplasia may produce similar symptoms
Later stages
- Difficulty urinating
- Blood in the urine
- Pain in the pelvis, back
- Feeling tired due to low levels of red blood cells [11]
- Associated with urinary dysfunction as the prostate gland surrounds the prostatic urethra
- Prostate cancer may also cause problems with sexual function and performance
- Difficulty achieving erection
- Painful ejaculation [11]
Metastatic prostate cancer
- Other parts of the body can cause additional symptoms
- Most common symptom is
- Bone pain
- Often in the vertebrae, pelvis, or ribs
- Femur usually to the proximal or nearby part of the bone
- Compress the spinal cord
- Tingling, leg weakness and urinary and fecal incontinence [11]
